Gone To Ground Farm accepts horses for training and/or refreshing on a short-term or long-term basis. We do not break horses. All work is based on the pyramid of training: rhythm, relaxation, contact, impulsion, straightness and collection (The Principals of Riding...The Official Instruction Handbook of the German National Equestrian Foundation). Lunging is very much a part of our program. Only snaffle bits are used. Training is done in a consistent, loving manner with the horse's well-being always in mind. Judges comment that the horses have been brought along properly. Our Hanoverian scored 74% and 77% at his first dressage show. What we find with most horses is that they need to develop a work ethic coupled with a consistent training program. Horses like routine. We strive to develop the horse's suppleness as well as his strength. In the process, he also acquires attentiveness and focus and learns to enjoy his work. Some of the horses in training come for a week at a time and then return home and return at a later time.
